O’Rorke Hall - Auckland

This project includes the complete interior refurbishment of the 12 storey O’Rorke student accommodation building built in the late 1980’s. The project scope includes 366 bedrooms, bathroom pods, common areas, commercial kitchen, entrance, reception, office, dining hall and the courtyard. Construction has been carefully programmed and undertaken within the constraints of a fully operational building.

The main entrance and dining hall upgrade forms a key component of fostering connectivity and enhancing interaction. The brief also called to create a ‘destination dining’ experience that is also a desirable social space outside of traditional mealtimes.

The entrance and reception is reconfigured, realigned and upgraded to significantly improve access, visibility, security and amenity.

The outdated dining space is refreshed with enhanced circulation, flexible seating options, new finishes, lighting and joinery. The servery is completely replanned as several separate stations, extending the menu offering and maximizing previously underutilised space.
